Artist Bio

Born and raised in Bloomington Indiana, Emily has always been a creator. While receiving a BFA in Fiber Art at the Savannah College of art and Design, she was able to explore traditional fiber art practices. While building and refining a craft centered skill set, this foundation of skills and understanding influenced her textile design process. These fundamentals also play a significant role in the experimental idealization behind much of her functional and nonfunctional sculpture work.

Mindful material sourcing is important to Emily in her studio practice. She utilizes found, upcycled, and repurposed materials for production as an inspiration gathering tool. Emily aims to work methodically in material efficient ways that produce the least amount of waste.
